Fluent in four languages, Stapper made his $44 million fortune via the online printing industry and shrewd investments in the struggling US real estate market. Along the way he became one of the most important leaders of California's economic recovery (once the 6th largest economy in the world). He's rare among America's notoriously uncivic-minded superrich in that he makes a point of giving back to his country, especially his adopted city of San Diego.
